2020 Recital

We’re crossing our fingers that the recital will still be held as planned on September 5th. We’re making plans in case we are unable to hold it as planned.

The recital will be held at the Thurston County Fairgrounds at 6PM.  We will publish which gate to enter, where to park and which building to enter as soon as we receive the final thumbs-up from the Thurston County Fairgrounds.

Tickets can be purchased at https://kineticdanceacad.com/product/recital-tickets/. We will be distributing physical tickets the week of August 31 to September 5. If you need tickets mailed, please let us know and we’ll ensure they are sent in time.  If the recital has to be postponed or significantly altered, we will refund the price of any tickets.

We are so proud of all of our recital participants.  They have been working hard learning their routines, and have supported their fellow dancers as much as we hoped they would.  The recital gives them the opportunity to show their growth and family and friends the opportunity to show how proud we all are of them.

Pre-Recital Prep

During the week of Aug. 17-22, we will be taking group photos of our recital participants in their costumes.  These photos will be available to the dancers and their families free of charge.  We ask all students to come in to their regularly scheduled class with their complete costume(s) and their hair in double French or Dutch braids (alternate styles and assistance is available).  Makeup is not required – it is the choice of the dancer and family.

During the week of August 31 to September 3, we ask all students to come to their regularly scheduled classes with their costume(s).  We will be practicing all routines in full costume.  Hair does not need to be styled in any particular manner.  We request that makeup be kept to a minimum to help protect the costumes.

Friday, September 4:  All-hands final rehearsal at 6pm.  Costumes and styled hair are required.

  • Please keep makeup to a minimum to help protect the costumes
  • We’ll be working hard to maintain social distancing, so request minimal accompaniment for the students

Recital Day

The recital doesn’t start when the families show up-the performance is but a small part of the entire experience for a dancer.  We will be working hard to ensure every dancer is ready to do his/her best!  In addition, we’ll be working to manage proper social distancing.  Because this is a day about and for the dancers, we request minimal accompaniment so that we can focus more on the dancers and their final preparations than social distancing of families.  KDA staff will be on site for the entire day, and many of our teen dancers have already volunteered to help keep our younger dancers safe and engaged.

  • 12:00 pm – Dancers arrive at venue
  • 12:30 – 2:30 – Final dress rehearsal
  • 2:30 – 5:00 – Break for food and rest – performers may leave the venue if properly accompanied
  • 5:00 – 5:30 – Return to venue, change into first costume, complete hair/makeup
  • 5:30 – 6:00 – Families arrive – Remember that social distancing requirements will be in effect
  • 6:00 – Showtime!

We will video the entire recital and will publish a DVD shortly after the recital is completed.
